Hello, it is me again.
I know it has been a long time but I have been stewing over what to write in this entry, sorting through my memories. Not to worry, I have finally figured out what to tell you.
I will start by filling you in of what is going on in my life…
I have now completely finished my secondary schooling and received my result and gained guaranteed entry into my course at University, Primary/Middle Teaching. I also am looking for a job… as of yet, I am unsuccessful.
Being finished and all I have a lot of free time on my hands, I can do anything. That means cooking lunches made out of whatever is left in the fridge, it might be eggs, chips or even pancakes. It is a real adventure. Sometimes I even cook dinner to ease the pressure from my mum. As it is almost Christmas time, I am getting in the mood for some Christmas food and my mum and I are planning what we’re going to cook. Christmas is really a wonderful time of year.
Anyway enough about me and my life. The earliest memory I have of a kitchen was when I was three or four years old. I would sit (usually on a chair) on the opposite side of the bench to where mum was cooking and watch her ever so closely, at every step and then at the end I would get to lick the bowl and spoon. At that age licking the bowl and spoon was exciting and the highlight of my day… even better than eating what had been cooked.
Now progressing on to starting school. Every day, due to my parents working full time, I would attend After Hours School Care and in the holiday’s Vacation Care. I remember once a week (sometimes more), we would cook in a group. Recipes were usually cakes or muffins that could easily be shared. I think this is where I developed my love of desserts and baking cakes. A large group of students ranging from 5-13 years of age, would sit around the table each doing a step of the recipes method each and then once it was cooked, eat it together. I continued this all the way through primary school, as I went every day after school and also in the holidays from reception to the very end of year seven.
Stay tuned & Keep Cooking
