Knife Safety
A knife is a chefs or cooks most essential tool, however it can be the most dangerous as well. So it is important to remember knife safety whilst using them.
Here are the some safety tips as suggested by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to help keep you safe whilst handling knives:

- DO, ensure all your knives are sharp, as using a blunt knife you have to use more force when you push down and that’s when things can slip and you can hurt yourself
- DO, use the right knife for the right job…There are three main types of knifes:
- DO, place a tea towel or wet cloth underneath a chopping board to stop the board slipping as you work
- DO NOT, walk around the kitchen with the blade of your knife facing out
- DO, hold knife facing down, and tell people what you are doing so they don’t bump into you
- DO NOT, try to chop or slice quickly right away, practice for a while and gradually increase your speed over time.
NOTE: If you don’t have a knife block for your knives, lay them flat in an uncluttered drawer where everyone can see them.
